Kyle X. Hill, Ph. D., M.P.H is Ojibwe (Turtle Mountain Band; Enrolled Citizen), Dakota (Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe), and Lakota (Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe). He is a licensed psychologist, currently an assistant professor at the School of Medicine at University of North Dakota, in the Dept of. Indigenous Health. His primary area of research is Indigenous Traditional Ecological Knowledges, cultural engagement and how these practices are critical for both, health equity within Indigenous communities and adaptation/mitigation of climate change. He currently lives in Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Hill is also a veteran of the U.S. Army and honors his relationship to Unčí Maká (mother earth) as a steward cultural and traditional practices, land defender and grass dancer.

I am uniquely aware of the contributions that Indigenous Peoples, Indigenous Traditional Ecological Knowledges, have conveyed in support of the balance of our ecosystems. At this time Indigenous peoples represent only 5% of the global population, yet we protect 80% of the Earth’s biodiversity.
