What is YEA! MN?
YEA! MN stands for Youth Environmental Activists Minnesota, and was founded in 2008 by Climate Generation, the Alliance for Sustainability, and a student at Hopkins High School. From the beginning, YEA! MN has been a youth-driven program, supporting a network of youth leaders from high schools across the Twin Cities Metro.
How can YEA! MN support my environmental club?
Maybe you have a project that needs support. Maybe you want to do something about climate change but don’t know where to start. Maybe you feel like you are the only one who cares about climate change. Wherever you fall on this spectrum, our YEA! MN program staff can meet you where you’re at. We provide mentorship to individual student leaders, as well as education and support for an entire school club. We can help you choose a project, launch a school club, navigate power dynamics at your school, plan an effective campaign, engage your audience, and help you transform your community.
How can YEA! MN support me as a leader?
YEA! MN provides a variety of leadership opportunities for students at all levels. Come to any of our YEA! MN Network meetings, open to the public and held on a monthly basis, and learn from fellow students how to build youth power in your community. Come to our annual Youth Lobby Day at the Capitol to learn how to shape public policy and speak directly to your state legislators. Contact us about joining the YEA! MN Core, an intensive small-group leadership development program focused on climate literacy, political education and organizing skills to support student action on climate change solutions.
