Instructional Peer Coach, ESL Teacher
West St. Paul, Mendota Heights, Minnesota
I am currently an instructional coach in ISD 197 at four schools, grades E-12. My background includes teaching in an E-STEM school, working with immigrant students, and using language as a means to empower marginalized populations. I have Doctorate in Education (Ed. D) from Hamline University as well as licensure in ESL, Reading, and Spanish. My certificate in environmental education has helped me incorporate inquiry teachings about the environment, climate change and species studies into co-taught middle school science, language arts, and social studies classes. I also have mediation and advocacy experience through Education Minnesota and the Advocates for Human Rights.
I believe strongly in a grassroots approach to climate change awareness, where we begin in our own backyards, communities, cities, and state. Conversations with our friends, family, students, and neighbors about personal energy and water conservation, green practices in our own homes and schools, and love for the outdoors can build momentum towards a greater movement that can lead to policy change.
