The United Nations 27th Conference of the Parties (COP27) will take place in Sharm-el-Sheik, Egypt in November of 2022.

Climate Generation is engaging a delegation to COP27 to bring the international climate negotiations to life through our Window into COP program. Applications for our COP27 Delegation are now open!

We are eager for deeper conversations around Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) strategies at COP27 for civil society around the world to engage in shaping and centering local climate solutions. Countries must utilize robust ACE strategies (i.e. education, training, public awareness, and more) to shape both their commitments and national adaptation plans through coordinated regional and national action.

Road to COP27

In June, Climate Generation accredited two delegates — Mónica Flores-Hernández and Chris Cameron — to attend the annual Subsidiary Body, SB56, in Germany leading up to the UNFCCC Conference of Parties in Egypt, COP27.

The subsidiary bodies (SBs) provide space to hammer out details leading up to the full COP27 negotiations and set priorities that reflect the climate crisis as a human rights crisis requiring ambitious commitments ideally reflected in action from all countries (Parties). The two IPCC reports published this year have set the gravity of the situation we face. As the United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres, termed it, they present an “atlas of human suffering” and make it clear that continuing with fossil fuel extraction is an “act of economic and moral madness.”
