ABOUT CLIMATE GENERATION

Climate Generation is a nationally connected and trusted nonprofit centering climate justice in climate literacy, climate change education, youth leadership, and community engagement to accelerate action on the climate crisis. Urgent and rapid action on climate change is needed to ensure a habitable world for generations to come, and education and engagement are effective and critical tools for empowering action.

Climate Generation empowers individuals and communities to engage in solutions to climate change, and we do this by igniting and sustaining the ability of educators, youth, and communities to act on the systems perpetuating the climate crisis. By overcoming disinformation, centering anti-racism and equity, and personalizing and localizing climate change action we can activate individuals, as well as build resilient communities. Climate Generation is committed to addressing the intersection of climate change and economic, social, and racial disparities, and working closely with partners who understand this interface.

Climate Generation was founded in 2004 by polar explorer Will Steger based on his powerful eyewitness to climate change and his history of inspiring educators and classrooms to engage in adventure learning.  We are an evolving and growing organization with a budget of $1,800,000, 16-19 staff and a Board of 9-15.  Climate Generation’s primary office is in Minneapolis, Minnesota and has a hybrid work environment.
