As our COP21 Window Into Paris program approaches, we will be featuring an educator in our delegation each week to share their thoughts on the program and how they plan to incorporate their experience at the UN climate change negotiations into their classrooms.
This week’s featured educator is Peter Johnson, an Earth Science teacher at Pine Island Middle School in Pine Island, Minnesota.
Excerpt from video: “I hope to teach [my students] exactly how critical these talks are,” says Peter Johnson. “It’s more and more critical that we change course and start correcting the mistakes we’re already making. I’m interested in having a voice for that change, and my hope is to get my students interested in advocating for change, for finding solutions to climate change and building a future that is less harmed by this changing climate that we’re already seeing.”
Peter has set up a personal fundraising page to help cover his travel expenses to Paris; any support would be greatly appreciated: https://www.gofundme.com/mrjohnsonsci
