Over 50 supporters joined our team for our annual Donor Appreciation Breakfast on May 2nd at the Red Stag Supperclub. Amongst coffee and eggs, this annual breakfast tradition includes a short program from Climate Generation’s team to update our supporters on our current initiatives.
Climate change is an enormous issue that requires many levers and a flexible, nimble response. It requires being able to take risks. Over the past year, we embarked on some internal changes with an eye towards taking risks and adapting to the new political landscape. The result is a new way of working more collaboratively, infusing political strategy, an equity lens, and evaluation in how we plan, develop, and execute our programming.
Our Director of Programs, Kristen Poppleton, provided a snapshot of some recent initiatives that demonstrate our new approach, followed by Jothsna Harris and Kira Liu, leading our Youth Convening Minnesota project, who shared testimonials from youth and storytellers they have mentored this past year. Janet Brown, Associate Director, thanked our supporters and invited them to participate in our upcoming MN Is Still In event to recognize and elevate the important role states, cities, and the private sector have in helping the U.S. meet the goals of the Paris agreement, despite the Trump Administration’s withdrawal a year ago.
The program closed with a message from our founder Will Steger, whose experience as an educator, advocate, and eyewitness to climate change is infused in all we do.
