MPIRG, the Will Steger Foundation, the Sierra Club and the Youth Democracy Summit Planning Coalition invites young people across the state of Minnesota to participate in the 2015 Youth Democracy Summit, to be held on Saturday, January 17th at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs of the University of Minnesota.
The event is an opportunity for students across Minnesota to join together in preparation of the 2015 Legislative Session. Students, leaders in the community and Elected Officials will discuss and prioritize solutions to the issues that matter most to young people.
During the event, students will hear from a leaders in the community and engage with panelists on the following intersectional topics: Environmental Justice, Transportation Equity, Racial Justice, GLBTQIA Justice, Higher Education Affordability, Voting Rights, and Election Reform.
To wrap up the day, each student will cast a vote to prioritize legislative solutions within each issue area. The event will close with a formal Youth Legislative Platform positioning youth for action in the 2015 legislative session.
